UPS Reinstates Money Back Guarantee

On March 26, 2020, UPS suspended their Service Guarantee for all shipments from any origin to any destination as the impacts of COVID-19 initially disrupted the shipping industry. The suspension of their Service Guarantee, or Money Back Guarantee, had no end in sight as it was implemented until further notice.

Today, April 5, 2021, UPS has officially begun the process of reinstating the Service Guarantee across their organization after over a year of its suspension. Currently, the Service Guarantee applies to all UPS Next Day Air services and UPS Worldwide Express services with the guaranteed delivery time extended to end-of-day for UPS Next Day Air Saver®.

As both UPS and FedEx have acted in lockstep with rate increases and performance suspensions, our expectation is that FedEx will follow suit shortly. Both carriers have excellent performance records, hitting delivery targets 98% of the time. However, for high-volume shipping organizations, that 1 – 2% of the time that their packages are late can translate into significant budget back to your bottom line.

The Service Guarantee program is one of the most significant points of negotiation and can easily be a powerful revenue source through Reveel’s Invoice Audit software feature.
