Employee Spotlight: Rebecca Lannon, Senior Onboarding and Negotiations Strategist

Behind every successful company are dedicated and talented individuals who drive progress and growth. Our employee spotlight series is all about introducing you to the exceptional members of the Reveel family. Get to know their unique backgrounds, discover their contributions, and gain a deeper understanding of the culture that makes Reveel a remarkable place to work.

How would you summarize what you do?
As a Senior Onboarding and Negotiations Strategist, I coach and train parcel shippers to use advanced data science technology that will enable them to become self-sufficient managing their parcel spend. I help them navigate and develop an understanding of the complexities of carrier pricing in the pursuit of a deeper understanding of the key components specific to their needs, and I coach and transfer knowledge throughout our onboarding/negotiation process that concludes in significant savings on their parcel carrier spend while simultaneously arming them with the tools and understanding that will continue to provide insight and value on a daily basis .

What makes you want to stay at our organization?
The people and our mission. We advocate for shippers at a time where there is little carrier transparency, and it’s becoming more difficult year over year to extract, analyze, and understand carrier data. I work with an outstanding team of people that are true advocates for our clients.

What do you like about our company culture?
Our core values are key. Chad, Josh and Nick have invested in ensuring that every addition to our team holds close to our core values: Transparency, Partnership, Empathy, Learning, Responsiveness, and Perseverance. We are a tight knit group that is constantly striving to do better through these core values.

Can you tell us a few details about the favorite part of your job?
It’s hard to pick one! My role is an interesting one – equal parts domain expert, educator, and therapist. I love working with my clients, advocating for them, and educating them as we persevere through carrier negotiations while at the same time preparing them to be self-sufficient in this area.

What does your daily routine look like?
In my role, there’s no such thing as a routine (beyond setting aside time every morning to read through emails). Every day holds something new and different as my role continues to transition from that of a consultant to an educator and a coach. Reveel continues to disrupt the market with innovative tools that I love sharing with our clients. On the negotiations front, it’s very dynamic, and every negotiation is different. You don’t know what’s going to happen from day to day, which is really exciting!

Tell us the most significant project you’ve handled and how it has impacted our company?
The most significant project that I’ve handled is transitioning my every day into our app. When I began working at Reveel, I performed a traditional consulting role, and now my role has evolved to include onboarding clients into our technology and putting carrier data and insights at their fingertips. They can now measure KPIs that were too difficult to measure in the past and actively manage their parcel spend.

How does your current job compare with the previous jobs you’ve had?
It’s not just the job, it’s the people. I love that my role is dynamic, and we’re finding new ways to advocate for shippers. I also love our team. I couldn’t do what I do without them.

What things stood out for you about our management team?
Our management team is amazing! Although we’ve grown in size since I joined Reveel, we still have the same feel that we did when we were a team of around 12-15. Management is super approachable and always eager to listen and provide feedback.

Which company values resonate with you the most?
That’s another hard question. Can I say all of them? If I had to choose, I would say Empathy, Transparency and Perseverance. Our compassion for others, integrity in everything we do, and working tirelessly to follow through on our commitments no matter the obstacles that we face.

What have been your most significant achievements working for our company?
This is two-fold. I would say continuing to successfully negotiate for my clients and producing significant savings as the carriers have continued to change the rules. Of equal importance and significance is evolving as my role has evolved. With our platform, I now have visuals to share with our clients that directly relate to their carrier pricing! A significant achievement is giving them the tools that they need to succeed, transferring my knowledge, and setting them up for success in the future.

Who inspires you the most within our organization?
Chad and Josh. They saw a need in the market and went after it. Not only that, but they also recognized that the market was changing. As fatigue set in with traditional consultants, they forged ahead with a new technology that’s disrupting the market. They’re fearless advocates, and I have a deep respect for them.

Which work benefit or perk is your favorite and why?
I love when we get together for company meetings. The in-person component is important when we’re a team that works fully remote.

What’s unique about working for our organization?
We have THE best team that I’ve ever worked with. You can count on every single person every time. Everyone is working toward a common goal.

Describe how you’ve grown professionally since you started working for us.
I’m a 2023 Women in Supply Chain Award recipient! Thanks to Reveel for the opportunity to do what I do, Bill Taylor for the nomination, and of course Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive for the honor.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who wants to work for us?
If you’re a team player who loves a challenge, send us a note, and we’ll see if we have an open opportunity. Direct Carrier experience is a plus!

What’s the most exciting thing you are working on right now?
Our self-service negotiation model.

What skill do you think everyone should learn?
Active listening. You can learn a lot about a person or situation simply by using this technique.

What motivates you?
I love our clients. I’m passionate about advocating for them in any way that I can. I also love a challenge!
